Hi. My name is Clint Hicks. I have been a preacher, like my father, since 1966 when I was a freshman at Freed Hardeman College. But I have been very involved in music since long before that.
I was born into a very musically talented family. My parents, Olan and Barbara Hicks, still travel across this land in a “Divorce Recovery” ministry, singing everywhere they go. My sister, Jeanne Barnett, and brother, Chuck Hicks, and I grew up singing country and gospel music, traveling together and entertaining for several years as the Chuck Hicks Trio. During my college years Chuck and I sang with the Madrigal Singers, Hallmark Singers, and Henways Quartet. Besides the Hicks Family I’m also a part of the ITIS BROTHERS band. I have also been privileged and honored to play guitar and/or bass and sing background harmonies for a number of different studio recording projects. God has truly blessed me through music for as long as I can remember. My early guitar heroes were Mother Maybelle Carter, Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed, with an added mixture from the “Folk” era (Peter, Paul, and Mary, etc.). There’s a little of all of them in my guitar “picking.” Hearing great artists play or sing motivates me to want to be better, and it has been my prayer that God would use whatever talents He has given me for singing, playing, and song-writing to encourage others and glorify His name.
God has blessed me with the most wonderful wife a man could ask for. Janice is a great wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She helps make me a better husband, father, grandfather, preacher, and Christian. We’ve been married more than 40 years, and have 4 wonderful Christian children: Marla, Aimee, Matthew, and Carrie. We have also been blessed with 6 adorable grandchildren: Sarah, Connor, Kennedy, Brady, Wyatt, and Christin.
I am extremely blessed to now be able to continue the Hicks Family tradition. And what a family tradition…right now we have three generations using the talents God has given us in a way that we believe honors him. Mom, Dad, Jeanne, Chuck…thanks for all you have done and continue to do for others through your music. You have all influenced me in positive ways. And thanks to you, Janice, and all four of my children for your continuing encouragement and support. You are all indeed a blessing to me.
